Well, it was brought to my attention that it’s been 3 years since I started to write blogs, as an un-sponsored angler I am totally unbiased about the fisheries I choose to go to and also all the tackle I choose to use. I hope you get from my blogs what I hope to achieve, which is a good honest review from the fisheries I attend to the type of line I use. Everybody is different with their choices of tackle & you should always use what you feel is the best for you, it’s all about personal choice! I have gained over 200,000 views over the past 3 years & that is just absolutely amazing & I can’t thank you all enough for taking time out of your day to come & read what I have been up to, about what an average match angler has to say. Just recently you will have noticed I have changed the style in which I write my blogs, for Christmas my long-suffering wife bought me an action camera so I can video as I fish & incorporate them into my blogs. I’m still having a few teething problems in getting used to the camera but I don’t think I’m doing too bad so far! I’ve got a few ideas on how to make it work for me better but, I’ll need to get out onto the bank for a few pleasure fishing sessions to work it all out, it’s difficult to work these things out within a match which, I intend to do over the next few weeks as I’m having a break from match fishing before the big matches start again in May.
Well the draw has been made with the Matthews580 team which is having our first experience of the competition being drawn away to Fir tree AC , so we will be looking forward to hearing where we will be fishing because there is a few Fir tree venues around here and we can’t wait for the email or phone call to get things started .
After getting my notifications the other day on which fisho tickets that i was successful in getting at Moorlands and Partridge lakes it looks like i will be spending my summer on the later with a fisho qualifier and two maver match this on their this year , but before that I’m really looking forward to my first visit to Tunnel Barn Farm on the three-day festival and it will be nice fishing somewhere that i have read an awful lot about as nearly every F1 article in the fishing magazines has taken place on there .
I have also decided to enter a team in the Angling times supercup for the first time this year after my exploits with Farnworth tackle in 2014 and our home venue is at Sycamore fisheries where we have all done well so lets hope we get a home draw and make it past the first couple of rounds , i also intend on contesting a few different open matches with venues like Herronbrook , Old hough and Lindholme being on my radar so after leaving my Balmoral AC it looks like i will be keeping myself rather busy .
This weekend I’m off to the Cunneries on Saturday to contest the open match which is taking place on the old canal were I haven’t been for nearly two years then on the Sunday im off to Heskin hall for a bit of silver bashing and a catch up with my mate The Big Dipper , so lets hope for a good couple of days with plenty bites .
Just returned from the latest club match at Orrcherton house fishery it wasn’t one that i had been looking forward too as it is mainly pellet waggler or straight lead for big carp i had just under 40lb and nearly 70lb won the match with most anglers having over 20lb which is good for our club .
Results have been updated and so have the club points , i will put up the blog on todays match in the next few days .
Just put the results up from todays Balmorals club match which took place at Blundells Ash pool , unfortunately i couldn’t attend today and to be honest i hadn’t really been looking forward to it anyway as on recent form it wasn’t fishing that great .
Luckily for me the results went my way as none of the top three anglers contesting the leadership of the club gained many points , so im still in second place which is ten away from the leader Dave who is going to miss the last club match , so it is all too play for with just three matches remaining .
Well after seeing on facebook that their was still some tickets left for this weekends Maver match this at Partridge lakes , i took the plunge and got myself one . Its a bit steep at 50 quid a ticket but i haven’t been fishing for a couple of weeks so thats kind of paid for itself and am looking forward to it , lets hope i can do better than last years attempt at it where i struggled on Holbar .
Todays club match at widdows fishery was absolutely lousy , with 3/4 of the anglers failing to get over 15lb . We found out that their was a match on it the day before which was won with only 25 lb , so our winning weight of 40 lb wasnt to bad from venue regular Dave who also has a commanding lead at the top of the table and im just scraping in at 2nd not to bad seeing as though i have missed a match . The blog will be put up over the next few days and points table has already been updated .
